Back in November 1968, I was (reluctantly) born; to this day it can be a major chore to get me out of bed.

The short version: my youth consisted mostly of Star Trek episodes, bouts of depression, and lots and lots of books. My teenage years added Dungeons and Dragons, science-fiction fandom, migraines, and eventually girls. Young adulthood gifted me with artificial body parts, amateur fiction with a pro sale, and general stagnation; 'maturity' exchanged the stagnation and migraines for steady technical work, a good ten years of marriage, travel, and some fascinating lifestyle experiences.

I'm a total geek. That's not the handicap it used to be. The older I get, the weirder I get, and the happier I am about it.
