The only one I could see being a problem is Freya, because a lot of her stuff is tight and bondage-y. But I think you should do what you want. If you really like Freya, you could make an original EGL for her. Or just do an EGL for yourself. Original costumes aren't as noticed sometimes, but as long as you do something that's popular, i.e. EGL/Sweet Lolita, Catgirl, Schoolgirl, Faerie, stuff like that, people will recognize you as what you are. Even one of the cons I went to has a category for best original. And another had two categories this past year, one for best original schoolgirl and best original catgirl. As long as you make the costume detailed and show off your costuming skills, it isn't a problem to do original costumes at all. Unless you're just going through your closet and pulling stuff out to make a costume. That's not bad, it's just an entirely different thing called "closet cosplay".

Just don't limit yourself to crossplay. There are a lot of characters that can be done nicely by people of any size. And some characters you do kind of have to be a bit big to do perfectly accurate. Like Bear Guy from Naruto (I can never remember his real name), the one with the little swirls on his cheeks. It's weird because all these skinny guys are cosplaying him lately. And Seras from Hellsing. She's like made for chubby girls to cosplay. And all these skinny girls do her. I find it kind of funny, because I've always thought it was only the other way around. And besides the physical issues, these cosplay were pretty good. And nobody seems to be bothered by it much.

I say cosplay who you want and if anybody bothers you, tell them to go to hell. It's a very simple standpoint. Simply put, it seems to me that actual cosplayers do not care what you look like compared with the quality of the costume and how well you bring across the character. So, who are you worrying about? The fanboys??? Really, nobody should worry about them beyond being accosted by them and having to get con security. If you are comfortable with the costume and have fun, it doesn't really matter what other people say about it.
It's not love that makes the world go 'round; it's fanboys and fangirls.

You know what I told my friend to go as when he wanted to know what character he could pull off, cuz' he is "chubby", and I have a feeling more than you say you are, but anyway, I said Majin Buu. You know, from DBZ. That would be hilarious. I want to, but I can't lol. He laughd about it.
Some days pass right on by, like rain from a black forest, seeing shadows walk in rows, do you really think I can follow? ~Mandy-chan~

I really want to see someone do Quina Quen from Final Fantasy IX. That would be so awesomely cool and it would be one of the best costumes ever! To really pull that off, it would take some great costuming skills and talent.

But, who cares if your a little chubby. Cosplay whoever you damn want!
