Sorry, I just hate cardboard mechs. They always dent and look bad by the end of a con. I'd suggest sheet plastic instead of cardboard.
The best way to get a design for a gundam is to buy the put-it-together model kit. That way, you get numbered parts that you just have to scale up and connect together.
