Construction Details:

(Note that this costume is currently incomplete~I have yet to make the military jacket, but since there are scenes in the anime/manga where Riza isn't wearing it, I figured it was permissible)



Luckily since FMA has been around for well over a decade now, there are TONS of tutorials...(Read More) on how to make the costume. Really the only thing I had to figure out from scratch was the wig, as a lot of the best stylings I had seen involved using one's actual hair ^^;



Black shirt was a t-shirt I modified into a turtleneck.



I actually used a pattern *GASP* for the pants, though I heavily altered it. It was some simplicity dress pants pattern, but I made the pant legs much more baggy and also used velcro and eye/hooks instead of a zipper/button to save time. I have yet to add pockets to it for accuracy.



The Buttcape has interfacing in it and has snaps that attach it to the pants as well as hooks/eyes that keep it secured around my waist.



The gun is a cosplay prop my brother bought while we were in Japan, and as such the red stopper *can* be taken off so it looks like a real gun, but obviously I had to keep it in for safety reasons.

Personal Thoughts:

I've been dying to cosplay Riza ever since I watched FMA/FMA:Brotherhood. Definitely a new experience wearing a light-colored wig and learning how to properly handle gun props, but it's been fun~I might just end up cosplaying every possible iteration of Riza Hawkeye there exists if my FMA obsession lasts long enough, haha.

Styling Notes

I took quite a bit of time devising a way to style the wig in a way that was accurate and still managed to cover my dark hair. I sewed a flexible com into the wig so the weight of the up-do wouldn't pull my wig back too much. I tied two ponytails using clear hairbands; one higher up to fake the hair being pulled back and another much lower that I then twisted up into the hair clip. Copious amounts of hairspray used to get the bangs and the up-do to stay in place.
