Babble:
Akram is still absolutely one of my favorite costumes to wear. It's very warm, fairly comfortable, and makes the whole world seem distant and like nothing can harm me, including stage fright.
The robe is also in the running for the single most beautiful thing I've ever created. I adore it.

The applique is gold lame and black satin on red faux-linen using metallic gold and silver threads. The under layers are crepe and satin, both full length before I knew how to really make kimono and both have been modified for other theatrical uses between wearings of the costume. The hakama is a skirt hakama rather than the kind with legs and is made of casa crepe with the pleats pressed in so hard that they probably wouldn't come out if I tried. Fluffy the Demon Pony is a stuffed head that I patterned myself made of low-pile plush furs (velboa and a flat fold), attached to a long full black boa. The boa /still/ sheds color after six years and a full washing.

Personal Thoughts:

Akram was a return to doing costumes entirely for me. I had several years of groups and pairs, and while I loved many of those costumes, making Akram was for ME. I love villains, I love his voice actor, and I loved all the colors and details on this costume design.
