Construction Details:

I took a standard kimono pattern and then I made the sleeves REALLY REALLY LONG and added at least 12 inches to the bottom, because I am quite tall. The obi was very simple. I did cheat and make it the kind that zips up in the back, then I hid the zipper with the big bow.

Personal Thoughts:

This costume was on my to-do list for a looooooonnnnnngggg time. In 2021 I decided I was going to make the costume for the 2022 con season no matter what, and then about a week later Animazement announced that they were going to be having Cynthia Cranz, her english voice actress, as a guest. The stars aligned.

This costume is SO comfortable. Once I figured out how to keep the wig on my head it was amazing to wear. Carrying around the oar is also very empowering. I did get it peace bonded! I am a responsible oar-wielder!

Also, I think this is possibly the costume that I've gotten the most "best girl!" comments on, hands down. Everybody loves Botan. S=

Wig Review

Those no-grip headbands are a GAME CHANGER. I always struggled with long wigs before, and this one is so back-heavy that it was constantly slipping.
