I've been saving this beautiful red fabric I got from the fashion district for this. Was really afraid of screwing it up so I made paper patterns and used some throwaway fabric for testing as well. The actual fabric has some stretch and was actually pretty forgiving, so I ended up having to alter it even after patterning anyway. I used a base long sleeve top pattern I had and cut away the shoulders and sleeves. Lined with yellow and black bias tape, added gold buttons, everything attaches in front with hooks and eyes.
Used a black camisole I had and gathered the front to give it more of a v shape.
The sleeves are made with stretchy black fabric and lined with bias tape. I was originally going to attach it to the top, but they seem to stay up ok without it.
The skirt gave me more problems than I thought it would. I messed up the two tester versions but third time's a charm I guess! Really happy the cut on the actual fabric was how I originally envisioned it. I'm also super proud of how clean the rolled hem for the skirt turned out. I made a waistband to attach the front panel and skirt to. Since the tail will otherwise drag on the floor, I added a loop to the end so I can attach it to my finger or safety pin it to the waistband when I'm walking around.
Boots were from my Yaoyorozu cosplay.
Still need to make the staff, hair ornament, and Lao Jiu but it was wearable enough for AX!
Been putting off this cosplay for years because the top looked hard. Honestly it ended up not being that bad, I think I've just gotten used to making easy stuff. - Personal Thoughts:
- Loved wearing this cosplay! The fabric is so flowy and I felt so pretty in it.
