Helmet
The hardest part of the cosplay. I made sure a wig head was padded with enough filler to match my head circumference, then used clingwrap and duct tape to sharpie out an idea of the tan and red panels and location of the ear covers. Then, I went through about five muslin iterations trying to get the shape how I wanted it. I cut the finals out of actual leather from Mood, sewed together with cording-filled leather piping, then cut and sewed 2 layers slightly smaller to create a liner helmet out of softer faux fabric. I added the exaggerated stitches to the main helmet with an awl and leather cording. I molded the ear covers over a discounted Christmas ornament with brown and black worbla to mimic the texture in Raz???s render, poking holes when it was still warm. After spray painting and hand distressing the ear cups and prebought goggles hardware, I slashed pizza-slice-like holes in the main helmet and then glued down the slices inside the worbla cups with hot glue to secure them in the helmet. I was able to catch the elastic for the goggles where the cups met the fabric. After tacking the main helmet down to the liner helmet, I attached the D-ring strap and a longer leather strap harvested from the bag.
Jacket
I used Yaya Han???s McCall???s vented blazer trenchcoat pattern with a taupe twill from Mood. I patterned and sewed on oversized pockets to match the render and give the look of Raz wearing Sasha???s jacket that???s too big for him. I harvested the bottom cuff off my turtleneck to sew to the ends of the sleeves.
Turtleneck
Thrifted! I got so lucky.
Pants
I used a simple bootcut trousers pattern, first doing a muslin with exaggerated hems so I could check fit and pattern a bell bottom look. Then I sewed with the actual fabric, adding a cuff of a slightly lighter teal at the bottom to finish.
Bag
I thrifted a tan bag (originally from Target) in roughly the right color. After designing and ordering the flap fabric on Spoonflower in a heavyweight twill, I harvested all the hardware and handles off the bag (and used a couple on the helmet later). I measured and cut a flap with an olive liner and handmade bias tape, added merit badges from Etsy, then attached to the bag. For the strap, I bought an oversized belt buckle and all-directional jump clips for the ends, then sewed the strap out of upholstery vinyl. I was able to clip this on to the existing bag D-rings for ease.
Shoes and Gloves
Thrifted, then painted the wing tips with dilute Angelus paint and replaced the shoelaces. Gloves were purchased as-is.
Wig
I cut a female bob wig into a boy cut, then teased out one of the bangs and heat set around a curler. - Personal Thoughts:
- I???m gonna fistfight Ford Cruller
