About this Costume
Construction Details:
I ordered leggings and boots from Poshmark sellers.

For the tunic, I started with a basic princess seam bodice and created a few mockups from there to get the seam placement correct. The skirt is a half circle skirt. Apparently the real collar attaches with magnets so that it can be zipped up the back. I just...didn't want to deal that... so my collar is actually sewn in and just overlaps and snaps closed in the back. It's such a cute and flattering maternity top! The fabric is Sew Classics Microsuede in Cornsilk from Joann.

One of my favorite details is the glove embroidery! I digitized the design myself and stitched it directly onto the glove fabric with my embroidery machine.

For the buckle and brooch, I bought unfinished 3D prints from Padme Props on Shapeways. My husband then made a mold from Moldstar 20T Platinum Silicone and cast the pieces in Smoothcast 325 with So Strong Yellow and Goldfinger pigments. I did a little cleanup with a file before attaching them to my costume.

My wig is two old Iori wigs repurposed. The main base wig a lace front from Wig Is Fashion. I ripped out wefts from an older Iori wig from Epic Cosplay and sewed them in to make the buns bigger and add length to the bottom braid. This style was very difficult to recreate! I rebraided those buns so many times and used every hairpin I own! I curled the end of the bottom braid by putting it in curlers and using boiling water.
Personal Thoughts:
I wanted to do a simple maternity cosplay. The Star Wars prequels have grown on me since watching all of Clone Wars and rewatching them. Love Padme! The costume is actually very comfortable and cute. I may have to wear it again, even though it may not fit properly later.
