About this Costume
Construction Details:
For the wig, I went for a look kind of fused between her manga and musical look so I can use it for other versions. I opted to be cheap and use what I had for the wig. I had a cheap platinum blond pigtail wig on hand, as well as a couple other wigs in a similar color I wasn't using. So, I dyed them with pink iDye Poly (Best dye method that I 100% recommend for wigs) and salvaged a second wig for wefts. I wrapped the fiber around styrofoam eggs to create the odango. For the pigtails, I teased the heck out of the clip-on tails and straightened only the fiber on the outside. They are not as huge as the musical version, but fluffy and cute and I like them. I added more wefts to cover some bare spots at the hairline since it was a cheaper wig. A little work with curlers, heat, and lots and lots of Got2BGlued hairspray finished the look!

nShoutout to LunarLyn and CherryTeaGirl for helping me with sourcing materials and construction tips!
Personal Thoughts:
Costume by a.l.cassiopeia with some alterations, hip roll, boot detail, glove rolls, and wig dye/styling by me
n
nI was originally planning to make this costume way back with plans to debut at Fanime 2018 with LunarLyn's big Sera Myu group! I have wanted to try being Chibi Moon instead of Mercury for awhile. Plans fell through when I became pregnant- wonderful news, but not conducive to cosplay plans since I was due right around Fanime. I considered making it later when more friends were joining the group and buying materials, but it seemed too expensive and time consuming for the new mom that I was.
n
nSo it did not get made, but I still had my eye on this beautiful design. I saw that a.l.cassiopeia was selling a beautiful one she made for a friend very close to my size, so of course I snapped it up! I didn't have to do much to finish up the look- in fact the most difficult thing was styling the wig.
