Construction Details:

I took a gamble in purchasing a two-piece suit on Amazon. I managed to do well. I snagged a red suit for about $40 and it fit just right! The brand was "You Look Ugly Today" and its basically meant for low-key formal events so it looks decent but you don't have to feel bad if you spill some beer on your suit. The sizing chart is a tad bit skewed. I ordered an XS. My typical measurements for men's suits is a 36 inch chest and this one said it was about 40. I'd say it fit juuuust right. The pants were also a good fit as well. There is some elastic that gives it a little extra wiggle room so that was helpful! I would probably recommend ordering one size above the size you think you best fit based on their sizing chart if you actually have more of a masculine build.

nI did have to do a bit of altering to the suit though! I seam ripped the lining a bit and got to the lapels. This suit had peaked lapels where as Kasuga has notched. I just went in and sewed a line across before snipping off the bit of fabric I no longer needed! Very easy fix~ I also had to swap the red buttons on the suit for black ones which was tedious, but not at all difficult.

Styling Notes

I feel like I committed a horrible sin by de-afroing an afro wig. Kasuga's hair is very fluffy, but its not quite as fluffy as a legitimate afro. A lot of my references came from Ryu Ga Gotoku ONLINE where he has just very fluffy, wavy hair versus tight curls (like an afro would have). I went row by row of wefts and flat ironed them all out. Eventually, I had a pretty sad looking afro. I did some light trimming to make it a bit shorter before I teased the fibers back into the netting to give it more volume. This continued for pretty much the rest of the styling process, trimming whispies and other fibers where needed. Eventually, we got a half-decent looking wig! I was in a bit of a rush to have this cosplay done in time for the convention, so I would have preferred a more brown color of wig. The base wig I selected was also on sale so that kinda sealed the deal. I do intend to remake his wig somewhere down the road!
