Construction Details:

Used a dress pattern that fit really well as a base, and altered the heck out of it and tailored it to fit even better. Added a pleated skirt and sleeves with cuffs. The sailor/mandarin collar is completely separate and has a center front zipper. The tie/eyes are sewn in at the shoulder to reduce bulk around the back of my neck. All the blue bias tape is hand-sewn on. The gold detail on the bodice is top stitched satin. The epaulets are several pieces of cardboard covered in gold satin and gold fringe trim glued to the edges. They are held in place with hook-and-loop fastener. Dress is fully lined, including the pleated bottom half.

Personal Thoughts:

I sewed this in the hotel room up until the minute before judging, and I regret nothing.

Styling Notes

I was literally rushed before heading to judging, having sewn until the very last minute, so I pulled the wig out of the bag, placed it on my head and chopped off what seemed like an appropriate amount of bangs.

Tangled like crazy, but I think after treating it with de-tangler it will be perfect.
