Construction Details:

With the weird mix of garment types in this costume, I decided early on that I wanted to work with manipulating spandex to act as both a stretch and non-stretch material. I spent a lot of time top stitching the different colors to each other to create the flat designs on Magilou's outfit, including details on the shorts you can't even see. The bodice and hat were reinforced with different types of interfacing/lining/boning to get the structure they needed to fit my body type. Unfortunately I lost weight between making this costume and shooting it, so the belt I made to hold the spellbooks got a little droopy! Beyond that I'd eventually like to go back and fix some of the smaller details, but for now, I'm really happy with the outcome!

Personal Thoughts:

I love my friends very much. I don't have the time/energy to make costumes like I did in college, and I almost certainly would have given up on this partway through if my Eleanor wasn't breaking her back making the other two costumes for this group. Triumph and friendship.
