Construction Details:

I used a Simplicity prom dress pattern as my base and modified it to be shorter and to reduce how far the skirt part flared out. It was a simple princess seam pattern that I also added plastic strips of boning to the seams of the top for extra support. The dress is also lined at the top and hemmed at the bottom. It closes with a zipper closure at the center back. With the scraps of fabric I made a matching bow and clutch purse. For decoration I added dangling beads to all three items I made.

Personal Thoughts:

I had my hair colored purple earlier in the year and thought it would be fun to make a matching dress. I bought 1-yard of this Fantasy Dupioni fabic from Yaya Han???s Cosplay Fabrics collection because it was really pretty. This dress was a chance to challenge myself to make something from just one yard of fabric. I wore this to a friend???s wedding in 2017, my company???s holiday party, and a new year???s party.
