About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
The plaid fabric was designed by Maryssaraptor and printed on a silky fabric from Spoonflower. All the heart details were resin casted by NyuNyuCosplay. The white fabric is stretch sateen from Joanns. The contrasting yellow and orange fabrics are various satins from Fabrics R Us. Gold bias tape was made from antique gold colored satin that we group-ordered online. Base boots are our usually Kiki boots we use for almost all our IMaS performance costumes; I had cut mine to be about ankle length. The pattern we used for the vest was modified from a Burda Pattern: Leather Moto Jacket 01/2017 #113A. It took many revisions and mock-ups to get as close as possible to the reference. The vest closes at the front with velcro and the waist belt. The skirt consists of a large high-waisted yoke with two tiers of ruffled rectangles tapered to a curve at the ends. Boot cover method was thanks to Sparkle Pipsi. The plaid fabric was sewn on top of a stretch matte vinyl and added grommets to create the illusion of lacing at the front. There is a zipper closure at the backs. Various small bow accessories were also made from the contrasting color satins and all ruffles gathered by hand. This costume was a lot of work! It was worth all the hard work to be able to be an idol rainbow with all the other girls!
- Personal Thoughts:
- This was created for a group performance at Fanime Con 2017 with Angel Hearts. And later a photoshoot at Anime Expo 2017 was organized to try to get a full cast. This costume was also worn for a performance at San Francisco???s Japan Town Anime Festival in summer 2017.
