About this Costume
Construction Details:
You'd think finding a grey suit that fits would be simple, but I was having the hardest time. That's also probably because I refused to spend over $50 on a suit I would only be using for cosplay >>

It came down to me making his suit entirely from scratch.

I found a good grey linen blend at Joann fabrics that matched the color I was going for. Most of my references came from Yakuza 6 and Kiwami 2 since it is his most recent model. It basically meant a lighter shade of grey for his suit, and more of a brown color in his hair.

Suit:

I followed the Vogue 8988 nearly to a T. The lapels needed to be altered to be notch as opposed to peaked as they were in the pattern. I also excluded the inner jacket pockets from my version. This was my first time doing single and double welt pockets, mitered edges, as well as using a knit type of interfacing. I actually really liked the look of that type of interfacing and I'll plan on using it more in the future.

The pants include 4 pockets and open fly. It felt so good to finally have pockets for a cosplay haha. Some reviews I read about this pattern mentioned the pants being a very difficult to understand, but I seemed to be able to figure it out just fine. I believe I omitted a few smaller parts from the inside of the pants (mostly lining or french seaming stuff) but it all looks fine from the outside.

Other:

I had a red button down shirt in my closet that I used for Kiryu. I think I'm going to replace this for a men's shirt, or even just make one myself to get a better color match.

Accessories:

My brother had a crappy silver watch I'm pretty sure he got from a crane machine which he let me have. The battery is dead.

Shoes:

THE SHOES HAVE DRAGONS ON THE BOTTOM OF THEM!!! Kiryu has stupid white dress loafers with no buckles or other fancy things, so finding a good pair was kind of a challenge. I eventually found a pair on ebay that looked alright. I'm almost certain these are some bootleg knock-offs of some Italian brand shoe called "Delli Aldo", but I'm not too upset considering I will use them for nothing but Kiryu.

Please feel free to DM me here or on my other social media if you have any other questions regarding the construction of this, or if you have any questions about the Vogue 8988 pattern!
Personal Thoughts:
"I am the Fourth Chairman of the Tojo Clan!"

Styling Notes
I used a pair of nose tweezers to pluck out fibers from the lace to modify the hairline of the wig. This was tedious, but I'm very pleased with the results. I was also surprised at the strength of the lace, as I was afraid plucking would cause it to rip. I rounded out the V shape in the front and also plucked from the sides to try and make the hairline more square. The wig was trimmed slightly to cut down on the whispies. When wearing this wig, I applied some spirit gum in front of my ears and pulled some of the hair down to blend in more with my face. This, along with drawing on sideburns, really made a difference in how the wig looked.
Wig Review
The wig really flies out and doesn???t stay too close to my head but I think with some gels/glue I can get it to be closer
