Construction Details:

I drafted the jacket pattern myself and modified a pattern I already had for the pants. The suit is made with silk shantung. The appliques and trim are silk dupioni. The embroidery was all done by hand in satin stitch. The appliques are hand-stitched as well.

For the boot covers I painted leather scraps gold to make the appliques and stitched them onto the covers, which were then glued to my base shoes. My sewing machine isn't strong enough to sew through two layers of leather, so I had to feed it through once to punch the holes and again to actually sew it.

The glove is leather with a reverse applique for the spider emblem. I made the green beads with Sculpey.

The armbands are vinyl tubing that I cut in half lengthwise and covered with gold spandex. There are snaps glued to the inside that snap onto the jacket sleeves. The hagoromo is sewn onto the armbands.

For the hair clasp I drilled a large wooden bead to make the opening large enough to put the end of the braid through, and glued two pieces of craft foam to the ends.

Styling Notes

I removed the bangs and skin top, replaced the skin top to be closer to the hairline, and added longer wefts to fill in the remaining gaps.
