Construction Details:

Dress: The overall dress used about 20 yards of fabric. I decided to go with matte satin because satin drapes really nicely. The bodice was fully boned, interfaced, and lined. The skirt was a 1.5 circle skirt for fullness and consisted of 4 main layers. I used a 3-hoops petticoat to support the skirt. The obi belt was hand embroidered with waves motifs.





Etwahl: the base was made with art mat boards for sturdiness. The corals were made using hearty air dry clay for lightness, and their texture was creating by cutting jewelry cords into tiny pieces. The small seashells were 3D printed, and the large detachable conch shells were made using styrofoam balls, paper mache, wood filer, eva foam, and velcro. The strings are made with sharpie colored stretchy jewelry cords. The entire thing is held up with clear fishing line with some padding for the back of the neck.

This was my third time making a cosplay and first time making a dress, let alone a gown, so it took me a while to do some researching and plannings. It was pretty difficult to walk around because it is so bulky and heavy, but the results are so worth it.

Styling Notes

The hair ornaments were made with EVA foam. 2 long straight clips were attached.
