Construction Details:

I bought the shorts first and then brought them with me to the local fabric store to match the color to make the vest. I bought an orange polo shirt from the thrift store, and when it didn't have enough fabric, I cut up an old t-shirt of mine that almost matched in color. I sewed the entire vest and hood myself, not really using a pattern except to trace the armhole and the neckline. I used the thinnest washable foam padding I could find at the store to sew into the orange collar to help it stand upright and give it a quilted look when I sewed the lines into it. I bought a plain black t-shirt from the craft store and used scrap white fabric that I had laying around to make the white edges on the sleeves. I wore legit military combat boots that I already owned. And fingerless workout gloves that I already owned. And clear safety glasses that I already owned. I didn't have time to buy a wig (I was hoping to borrow a short, blond wig from a friend only to find that she needed it at the same time orz) and I really regret not going all out on this costume.

Personal Thoughts:

i just love any gender-bending characters, so i loved the fact that the main character doesn't care if she's perceived to be male or female. i was actually really happy to have a character like this when ouran is so popular and i wanted something more my style and airsoft battles are definitely my style!
