Construction Details:

This was a fun little monster I created~ I decided to go for a more traditional "ice skater" look, which influenced my fabric choices etc.

Materials : Performance mesh x2, silver spandex, crushed panne, lots of sequins, craft foam

Bodysuit: After patterning from a shirt and a pair of shorts, I layered two performance meshes together and sewed them as if they were one piece of pattern fabric. The velvet (crushed panne but will call velvet for typing purposes) piece was cut accordingly to the pattern, pinned, and then satin stitched onto the mesh. On the backside, the velvet was also double layered so that it wouldn't feel strange having one side two layers and only one the other. There is a zipper in the back, and the crotch is closed with two hooks.
The sleeves were a nightmare. I patterned out a continuous sleeve glove so there are two pieces in one sleeve. I had to start over a few times on each side because I patterned them out too long and than too short XD;;
After the base was completed, I patterned out how I was going to do the gem pieces. They are craft foam (some bigger pieces layered) with silver spandex wrapped around. I glued and sewed the pieces onto the suit. Afterwards, I went to town with the silver sequins and hand stitched those suckers on.
