About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
I started construction on this late so thank goodness it came together pretty easy! The only nightmare was the bias tape - I don't know what possessed me to make bias tape out of that hellscape-fabric, but I brought on my own suffering.
n
nFor the jacket, I actually used one of Simplicity's newer "This Is Totally Not Sailor Moon" patterns, which felt appropriate. The fit was a little tricky, so it's not my cleanest job but at the end of the day it actually buttoned up so woo hoo.
n
nShout out to my wife for doing the buttonholes. I hate buttonholes. - Personal Thoughts:
- TERRIBLE 90S COSTUMES - was our battlecry when we decided to make these outfits. Since Yoshizumi Wataru was announced as a guest for Ushicon, we decided to go the whole nine yards and cosplay from her hallmark series--this also meant my wife plopped me down in front of the TV to marathon the series which I had not seen before (a crime!)
n
nMy wife had suggested I do Arimi (she is the "fashionable" one, but in a 90s anime, does that make a difference?!) and after watching the series, I totally fell for her. I always appreciate women who aren't afraid of doing whatever it takes to get what they want (even if what they want is some dude.)

- Styling Notes
- I shortened the bangs and razored it from an a-line bob to blunt, uniform length.
