About this Costume
Construction Details:
When you take on a simple design, it poses a lot of unique challenges. The biggest one was how to construct the chain links for the armored loin cloth, and how it would be worn.
n
nI worked with a thermoplastic for the first time, Thibra. I liked the smooth texture the material already had, but I would say the material is not easy to work with if you need to do a lot of shaping. I've seen others refer to it like chewing gum when you apply a heat gun to it, and I'd say that's pretty accurate!!
n
nThe pro to choosing the thermoplastic over foam, is it had weight to it. So when the wind picked up, the chains weren't flying everywhere! If I had used foam, i think the pieces would've been damaged. The belt part velcro's together and can come apart in several places for easy transport and to prevent the belt pieces from rubbing up against each other and scratching itself.
n
nAs for the sewn portions of the costume the fabric couldn't have been more perfect. It was this beautiful shade of brown, and had some stretch to it. Because of that I was able to get a really form-fitting top. The skirt is unlined, and has serged edges and then turned over for the hemline :)
Personal Thoughts:
One of my dream groups was to be able to get a group of people together for Final Fantasy Tactics! It was my first FF and I love the game immensely! I had a hard time choosing which class to take on, but chose to do one I felt would be a great challenge, and isn't frequently cosplayed among the classes! I was so thrilled to have a large group and with people I was so eager to cosplay with!
