Construction Details:

All material use is spandex- white is double lined spandex. Most items were drafted by me, aside from the leotard, which is a modified version of the Green Pepper ice skating pattern.





Skirt is a pleated double circle skirt and is detachable. This one is in spandex, but I'd like to try it in satin for more fullness. The spandex was more so meant for Neptune, and was always a nice option since I KNOW every scout's colors are available in this material and I have the swatch card for the material from Spandex House =) It's also great because it can be easily washed, is comfortable, and resists wrinkling!





The collar custom drafted, though it doesn't quite lay right, so I will have to redo this. I plan to do this before WonderCon at the end of March 2016! Choker is stabilized with elastic, covered in spandex, and has star with glued gem sewn onto the front. It snaps on and off.





All bows are interfaced with thick interfacing and are removable from the outfit. I will be redoing the back bow as well to make it more three dimensional instead of just flat, like it looks now. The bow will have an actual loop, like Minnie Mouse's bow, so that it doesn't appear like a cardboard cutout that's behind me when it's being viewed from the front.





Rolls are done with batting, and hand sewn to the outfit. The heart is made using the ornaments from Hobby Lobby, and painted with nail polish (from the inside), and then stuffed with felt and fitted with a pin so I can remove the heart as needed. I'd like to make a heart that can glow, though!





Gloves are matte bridal gloves that I got on Amazon, and the rolls are made of polyfoam caulk saver, covered in spandex, and entirely handsewn.





Wig was styled by me, and tiara was custom made by me using PET plastic. The earrings were silver, but I painted them red ^.^

Personal Thoughts:

Sailor Mars was always my first scout that I intended to cosplay, but I ended up going with Neptune first! Mars definitely won't be my last though! I made Neptune in late 2013, and Mars in late 2015. I definitely plan to make a 2016 version using all that I have learned while making both, to hopefully make a perfect scout outfit! That is to say, to make it perfect by my standards- I'm sure everyone has different ideals for their vision of these outfits, but I'm very close to getting it exactly where I want my design to be!
