About this Costume

Honestly if I had to redo this, I'd invest in using better quality materials. This costume cost me a grand total of $13.26, excluding the wig.
I spent maybe 2 hours on the base dress. it was made out of a (super cheap) cotton-poly blend, and honestly, i was super paranoid about it ripping at first. i lined the to give a little more shape to the dress, as well as eliminating any transparency issues.
i made the pattern for the bodice myself, and the skirt is 1.5 circle skirts that are gathered! her front flap was interfaced, then sewn on one side to the dress and the opposite side???s top corner was tacked down. i used velcro to secure the rest of the flap to the dress. the buttons on her flap were purchased from joanns, and then sewn on.
the strawberries and the swags (lol) on the dress were all made individually by hand. there are around 24 strawberries altogether, all of which were traced on red felt, then i stitched ???seeds??? onto them, and then glued them into pairs and added the tops! the swags were made out of some leftover kona fabric i had laying around. for them, i made a u-shaped pattern, then traced that and made a whole bunch!
her necktie was a fitness towel cut in half and then sewn together to make a suuuuuuuuuuper long rectangle. i also made her hair bow and chefs hat (which mustve fallen off on the way to the con or smth though bc i lost it :-( ). the sash is ribbon topstitched onto a strip of green fabric and then secured with velcro. the apron is interfaced kona with hand-embroidered hearts.
i made the thigh highs as i was too lazy to order some online, and her shoes were an old pair of heels that i used to wear to ffa shows! i painted them white, added green bows and strawberries so theyd match the dress. you cant see them in her original card, so i had a bit of creative leeway there :~) - Personal Thoughts:
- This marked my one year anniversary of sewing my own costume! Lots of love (and tears) were put into this. Currently in retirement, but I might bring it out for another con sometime.
