About this Costume

The Meadow Dress was by far my favorite. I really wanted this costume to be fun and walkable because I planned on wearing it to Star Wars Weekends at Disney & for the parade a DragonCon. So I made some things not as accurate as I could for the sake of comfort. The under layer of the skirt and base of the bodice are both curtain fabric that were the perfect shade of gold. I then layered the skirt fabric - in the shape of a half circle skirt - with another awesome curtain fabric that had embroidery on it and the right shine that gave a similar effect to hers in the movie. The bodice has 3 layers - a cotton base, duck cloth and the outer curtain fabric. I added boning and made it the very low top based off a out of print pattern I found. I then hand sewed on a bunch of flowers I found ordered in that were original intended to be wedding favors XD. After sewing them all on I did a bunch of painting to get the same look as her embrodiery. For the top I used the same out of print pattern and made the sleeves with three layers: a cotton layer against my skin, a gold fabric and then the sheer gold sequined fabric. I used 4 spools of ribbon in all 4 colors for the sleeve attachments. For the cape I took sheer gold fabric and added a green piping. I then painted the checkered pattern with yellow fabric paint. The worst part by far was hand sewing all the roses onto the cape. This took a full day in itself. I then painted all the vines and leaves on to connect them. I made the headband out of duck cloth and some left over green ribbon. I then sewed on the roses and satin stitched the middle line. I found an awesome woman who makes the bun covers and it was a total life saver. I styled the lace front wig and sewed in the buns.
- Personal Thoughts:
- I love all of Padme's outfits, but because I live in Florida it can be super duper hard to find one I wont die of heat in. This was a great start into my delve into her amazing wardrobe.
