About this Costume
Construction Details:
Materials used include:
nTwill/Light stretchy Denim (not sure, I got it in the red tag area) - Teal
nTaffeta - Yellow
nSatin - Gold
nBuckram - In hat
nHeavy Duty Wire - For Wings (attached to costume)
nFleece - White - for Wings
n
nThis costume was created from a few different pieces. The top was spliced from a couple of different "princess" pattern pieces, and the skirt is actually just a very large circle skirt that was gathered.
n
nAll the gold trim pieces were drafted myself, to match the size of the costume.
n
nHat was constructed first from a buckram form (drafted by me), and then the green outer layer was placed on top. Hat is sewn to the wig for safety!
n
nA pair of bloomers, in the same yellow taffeta were added, and they have inset elastic around both the waist and the legs.
n
nThe details on the dress points itself were hand painted, and each point is actually lined so no hem folding was required.
n
nWings are physically attached to the costume, and held up with a wire armature inside, that rests between the lining and the outer shell of the dress. Wings were then hand-stitched onto the backside of the costume.
n
nClow Staff was constructed by me as well, made to proportion as if I was Sakura's Size.
Personal Thoughts:
This costume had a lot of love put into it, and it's an absolute joy to wear! It's comfortable, it's super fluffy, and the giant circle skirt is just so much fun to twirl in.
n
nThis costume was part of Karmaluna Cosplay's performance at Youmacon 2015, that won Best In Show.
Wig Details

4-5 hours
Styling Notes
The wig only needed to be partially styled, as the hat was going to be sewn directly onto the wig head. Longest amount of time was spent trimming, curling bangs and adding the cowlicks at the top front. All styles done with hairdryer and Got 2B Glued spray.
