About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
Perona is made from 8 yards of matte black satin, 4 yards of semi-matte white satin. There was a TON of math involved, from the proportions of her dress, to the ruffles, to the hat on her head.
n
nEach tier is approximately 5-7 circles sewn together, finished with a rolled hem, and then attached to a base dress. I wore two petticoats under her dress to support the weight and to give it the body it has in Oda's art.
n
nHer bodice is drafted completely from scratch by myself. It's a 3 layered bodice with approximately 12 channels of plastic boning. The front design is milliskin heat n bonded on.
n
nHer hat is made from craft foam covered in matte black satin and red satin, the white flowers are attached with hot glue onto the base.
n
nKumashi is drafted completely from scratch by myself. I have never made a plush doll before so this was a huge challenge for me and I am incredibly proud of myself. He is made from brown, blue, and white short-pile fur fabric. His nose and claws are made from sculpey, painted and then attached via place a pin through the fabric and securing each piece into that pin.
n
nThe boots are resused from my Thriller Bark Perona. - Personal Thoughts:
- I'm so impressed that Kacie and I kept out promise of over a year ago from last year's AUSA to cosplay time skip Zoro and Perona for this year's AUSA. Going for that Perona bingo.
