Where to start with this hideous jacket lmao... Just as a pretense, I never made a double breasted jacket before and I am absolutely horrible at making lapels so I was in deep doodoo before trying to make this jacket... I used a Cosmode single breasted jacket pattern and, while crossing my fingers, made seemingly appropriate adjustments to make the pattern a double breasted jacket, and hoped for the best...
YEAH NOPE, nothing fit right on me. e__e;;; Not only did the pattern not come in varying sizes, but I had to make a ton of adjustments to make it even remotely fitted on me. It still fits kinda funny around my neck and shoulders, weep. It was an additional nightmare to figure out how to do all the bias edging, and I didn't even properly finish off the jacket like a real jacket with contrast bias edges, hah.... I'm thankful I kept messaging Evanae of all the weird things I discovered while sewing, and together we somehow managed to pull through. Next time I'm just going to either buy an American pattern that addresses all the jacket points properly or I'll just draft the thing myself lmao this is what I get for being lazy and not wanting to deal with the drafting from scratch T_T;;
Strong points: the gold lines on the cuffs and figuring out how to properly sew bias tape for the first time lol, functioning rows of button holes!
Weak points: the lapels, the proportioning of the jacket compared to the artwork (seriously, sword boys have such long and slender torsos) although we looked decent once everything was worn, how baggy the overall jacket was... - Personal Thoughts:
- NEVER HAVE AN OUTDOOR PHOTOSHOOT DURING A HEAT WAVE...... In all seriousness this shoot wouldn't have happened without all my TouRan friends who helped out with putting together the set, purchasing the supplies, vectoring the designs and in-game buttons, and so much more ;w; We had to push the shoot way into the night because of how hot it was but it ended up going through pretty well! I hope to rewear this when there is snow though because HEAT WAVE PHOTOSHOOT NEVER AGAIN.
