About this Costume
Construction Details:
There is a ridiculous amount of material to this cosplay. 4 for the hakama. 5 plus for the kimono. Plus another 2 yards for an undershirt. I cut and styled the wig, which again was a bit of a nightmare because I reusing an already styled wig which had been layered.
rnI traced one my vintage kimonos for the top pattern. The hakama took a surprising amount of hunting on the internet to find a pattern that made sense to me.
rnI really took my time with this cosplay. 90 percent of it is finished the way that I wanted. Aka, overcast all the raw edges, french seam in the bottom of the sleeve, some (quite a bit) hand stitching. I used a bit of wonderunder heavy fusing in the shoulder seams because I needed the interfacing support and it looked a lot cleaner than hand stitching.
rnFrom a sewing position, I am very happy with the technical construction of this cosplay. I would actually be comfortable selling this and I probably will in some time.
Personal Thoughts:
I spent entirely too much time on this cosplay (and money) *claws eyeballs out*
rnBesides that it's a really comfy costume, if it's not too hot that is. Or if you don't go walking around barefoot on tanbark.
rnThis cosplay was a lot of fun because of the people in my Inuyasha group. I probably wouldn't wear it solo, unless it was like the only thing to wear or something. Although the level of recognition while I was by myself at such a small con was cool. Because at this point Inuyasha is kind of a hipster cosplay with all you kids and your sports animes...haha.JK.
rnMy only problem with this cosplay was the wig. I recycled an old wig and it just didn't work out...plus it kept slipping back which made me look like one of those little dolls with a bowl cut...

Wig Review
This wig has held up very well for the number of times I have worn it and considering its length. Although now it is quite damaged it still quite easy to comb. Which is a blessing because I've had many wigs that won't comb out the bag new.
