Construction Details:

This was another intense pair of costumes. Both my partner Cimorene and I did two variations on the character for our skit, starting with Grell's butler form and ending with his classic red coat. I'll be separating the costumes for the site.

Butler Grell:

The butler form of Grell was created specifically for our skit, so it had a few unique features. The first being I hid an entire red Grell wig under the black one >.>

The second is that his classic red coat was hidden under this black coat in the beginning of the skit. Midway through the skit I turned from butler into regular Grell and dropped the outer parts of the costume.

The pants, vest, and coat were all constructed of high-grade wool suiting so they tailored really well. We had to modify the pattern for the coat to make it longer and more true to character and custom-fit the vest and pants.

Personal Thoughts:

Grell is that one costume that everyone just wants to make. I finally did, for World Cosplay Summit USA Prelims in 2013 at Anime Matsuri.

All I have for now are a few pictures from the con, formal pictures will be available soon - we should be doing a photoshoot within the next month or two :)
