Ucchan is one of my all time favorite anime characters!! I was in Middle school and VIZ first released the dubbed Ranma 1/2 DVD box sets. I was hooked to Inuyasha at the time, and was an avid reader of the manga, so naturally i wanted to branch out into other Rumiko Takahashi works andit just so happened that so many of the Ranma 1/2 manga volumes were translated at the time. I just fell into it and it became my #1 favorite anime EVER!!! Okay Kounji has always stood out to me as such a badass female character, because she's just so independent. She goes to school, runs a business and still finds the time to be Ranma-honey's cute finance!! She doesn't get enough love but, she'll always be dear to my heart. This cosplay has been a long time coming but I'm so happy I finally made one of my dream cosplays!!~ ^^

*Hair Bow*
Made out of White Cotton Sateen Fabric. I made a few Test bows before I decided on how big I wanted it to be. and once I made a decision, I sewed wire into the rim on the bow so that tI could maneuver the width of the bow. I also took an old head band as the supporting structure to sew the bow onto. I just made sure to leave enough extra fabric so that I could tie a knot.
*Uniform*
THE STRUGGLE WAS REAL!!!! So the most challenging part of this was making the overlap of the uniform sit correctly on my body. It was either to wide around my neck or too high and it was a challenge. I made several mock pieces and patterns before settling on what suited my body type best but still also stayed true to Ukyo. I used Navy and Lavender Cotton Sateen fabrics. I sew a piece of string so I could fasten the Uniform properly before I wore the Black waist belt. The black was it bet is black cotton sateen fabric that I sew fasteners to. the white criss cross underarm, spatial folder is just white cotton sateen fabric.
*Bandolier*
I pretty much figure out how long and wide i wanted the bandolier to be and what kind of width I wanted it to have. After I tested a few different lengths I bought some yellow/ mustard cotton twill fabric and cute it to size. I used upholstery foam to fill in between the yellow fabric so that tit had some kind of dimension. I wanted to sew them together but when i tested that out, the stitch left too much of a distinct impression on the material I thought it best to just use fabric glue instead. I later cute the thickets glue sticks i could find, and made the bandolier gauges the same width so I could use them to keep the gauges from getting flat. unfortunately, I didn't account for the weather , and the glue sticks actually melted into the fabric! I couldn't take them out! >_< I was hoping I could but I really couldn't, so it ended up making it much heavier that I wanted it to be.
*GIANT SPATULA*
Oh Ukyo an your ridiculous family heirloom~~.. This was so much trial and error. I drew the spatula out fist an mad sure I made ti proportional and practical to my body and for con usage. I wasn't able to get a sheet of Insulation Foam, which is a material I'm used to working with. So I opted for using half inch thick artist foam board. Unfortunately for me, it was still too flimsy and could bend way too easily so I used Bondo to strengthen it. Although it did make it thicker, it also made it way too heavy easier to carry on my back. That was the main reason I stuck to something light in the first place, but oh well~ I sanded it down the best I could afterwords, but honestly I didn't have the best sander, so I tried using contact paper to cover most of the unevenness of he surface. It definitely made a difference but not by much. I later, sprayed plasti-dip to see if it could help smoothen the surface and it did in some areas but overall nothing really changed. After all of that, I finally sprayed it silver and tied the yellow cotton twill fabric along the neck of the spatula. All in all it is super sturdy but it wasn't to the level I was happy with. I can't wait to start over. I did learn a lot along the way though! XP
*Misc*
The tights were bought and so were my shoes. The P-Chan belongs to my best friend.
*Wig*
Arda Wigs, Venus in Dark Brown. This is a very nice wig!! I cut the ends to make them straight like Ukyo's pretty much.
