About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
The top skirt was constructed out of four different colors of a type of ripstop (not quite sure what it was exactly buuuut it's ripstop) that were fused with easy steam II tape. The top and bottom skirts were pleated together following a boxy zigzag pattern. Both layers have 1 in. horsehair braid along the hem. The scalloped waistband is a layer of ripstop and interfacing with no closing mechanism (meaning it's one piece and I slide it over my shoulders to put it on and take it off). The pokeball is attached with a suction cup. The shirt is white spandex and ripstop. It closes with velcro in the back. The sleeves are white sparkle polyester with the same scallops as the waistband on the edges. The choker thing is one piece of ribbon with a snap. It attaches to the front and back of the top with velcro. The shoes (originally white) were painted with acrylic leather paint and extra straps were constructed out of faux leather. All parts on the shoe also connect with velcro. The megastone bracelet is made of pom-poms sewn together and the megastone itself is cast out of resin. The shorts are made of pink and yellow cotton with the scallops serged on. The ENTIRE cosplay is COVERED in swarovski rhinestones (even the SHOES have swarovski) and some sequins can be found here and there.
- Personal Thoughts:
- This thing was a total BITCH to make but I had SO much fun wearing it!
Wig Details
- Styling Notes
- I sewed wefts along the back of the wig and gathered the hair to make it look like an updo for her side pony. I also added wire and packing tape to the sides of the wig to give it that signature "May" shape.
- Wig Review
- It was kind of annoying to get the wig to look right, but it looked okay in the end and I am very pleased with it.
