Construction Details:

Most of this costume was pretty straight-forward -- all of the materials are cotton or cotton blends I already had. I used a fitted bodice pattern that I knew I liked, cut it shorter and attached a 3/4 fully lined circle skirt. Puffy sleeves at this point are my bread and butter, so that was easy to crank out. The black trim around the neckline was one of the trickier pieces, since I had to do an inverted corner, before I even attached it to the shirt. The hat was built out of craft foam and interfacing -- the brim is 2 circles, with heavy interfacing, which gives it that ripple affect. The shorts were yoga pants I bought at the thrift store and shortened. The boots were a lucky thrift-store find.

Personal Thoughts:

I made this costume on a whim in December of 2013, because I had supplies lying around, and even had a wig (I originally bought the wig for Mikasa, but didn't end up liking to... so I went crazy on it). I had a lot more fun being Mayuri than I ever expected to. :)
