Construction Details:

jacket - the front and back are 2 different patterns (the back is in several panels to get the flare). I made a faux yoke to go over the front and the back to make the upper part of the jacket look seamless. There's a layer of buckram in the body of the coat to give it lift as well as horsehair in the hem of the jacket. The yoke accents are done in vinyl, eventually going back and replacing the hem trim with vinyl too.



Gloves were recycled from another costume. Jeans were modified as was the shirt (freehanded the insignia).



Any orange bubbles/spheres on the costume were Christmas ornament halves painted and attached.



Boots were modded, the tops are leftover leather from excess cut from the gloves.

Personal Thoughts:

I REALLY LOVE 5DS. A LOT. I had decided to rewatch it and finish from where I had left off after seeing the subs added on Hulu and I just fell in love with Yusei's character all over again. Honestly I was really intimidated at the thought of making the jacket (Yugioh jackets just seem on a whole different level to me haha), but I am so happy with how it turned out (my buddy Bekalou was a huge help with brainstorming on it) and as silly as it sounds I feel really awesome wearing it. Also huge shout out to Updosmackdown who I commissioned for my Yusei wig, it really made the whole costume come together!
