About this Costume
Construction Details:
this costume was made in a matter of days and i'm not 100% happy with it so i definitely want to remake some time because i really love this design.

the shoulder pieces are made of eva foam. joey patterned each half of each shoulder piece and used contact cement to glue the two halves together. he heat formed them a little so they would conform to the shape of my shoulder. i covered the pieces with the same gold fabric i used in the rest of my costume so they would match. the three individual shoulder pieces for each arm were glued together into one pauldron with hot glue. they attach directly to the body suit with velcro. i can't really move my arms lol.

the body suit is made of 4 way stretch matte black vinyl and gold coated spandex. i used my regular front and back seam body suit pattern as a base. i retraced the pattern onto another sheet of paper and drew in the seam lines i wanted for the costume. i cut the pattern apart and marked were i needed to add seam allowance and which pieces were black and which were gold. i cut out all my pieces and arranged them on the floor so they wouldn't get mixed up. i used a zig zag stitch to sew them together instead of using the serger because of all the hard to sew corners. i put an invisible zipper up the front of the body suit. the gold patches on the ribs and the black patches on the knees are craft foam covered in fabric. i used spray adhesive then top stitched just in case. i used e6000 glue to glue them to the body suit. the gold studs in the legs are left over from another costume, i just attached them by cutting small holes in the suit for the prongs and reinforcing with hot glue so they would be sure to stay without ripping and to keep them from poking me. for the sleeves i just traced my arm and hand and sewed them together. the band around the top is elastic and attached to the sleeve also with elastic. i wasn't happy with how the gold pattern on the suit turned out, i made the bird shape in the front too wide. that's the main reason i want to redo the costume besides it just being kind of rushed. unfortunately i didn't have enough time or materials to do a mock up to begin with.

i decided not to sew shoes into the costume because i knew it would already be really hard to get into being made of vinyl and because i like to make my body suits super tight. i got some black flats at the thrift store. they had silver studs in the shoes that i painted gold to match the costume.
Personal Thoughts:
I fell in love with this Kris Anka phoenix force psylocke design as soon as I saw it. I thought he was gonna be at the con I wore it to but sadly he wasn't.
