About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
I made this using one of the beta character sheets, and a lot of the patterning was freehand because dumb Pokemon. It's all dyed white sateen. The dyeing took the longest time and gradient dyeing SUCKS, but otherwise the costume was relatively straightforward.
The top was made with a standard princess seam bodice pattern with a flat bow shape heat n bonded on top, and then freehanded wider panels that flare out, plus the button panels. The sleeves are separate pieces (flatlined), and the scalloped cuffs are interfaced so they stick out. The neck/halter piece was freehanded to my measurements. The skirts are both double circle skirts with horsehair braid in the hem, with the scalloped waistband sewn on top. The scalloped piece was done in a circle so that they would sit right. The shorts are wider than necessary with an elastic waistband for optimal poof. I'm very proud of them.
Accessories: the hair bow is a fake fabric tube without tails with the colored tails sewn on, a gem glued on, and then the whole thing is wrapped around a hair tie. The Mega bracelet is craft foam entirely, with one yellow glass bead. The Mega stone was printed on paper and glued to the back of a carbochon (sp?). The leg wrappy thingies are just ribbons that snap to a spine in the back that I tuck into my shoes, with a ribbon on the top band of either leg. - Personal Thoughts:
- Oh God I could probably afford to lose some more weight before the next time I wear this but NONETHELESS this outfit is so floofy and cute--it was a NIGHTMARE in gradient dyeing and I am seriously considering remaking it in some brighter colors before I wear it again. But I had fun wearing it with the boyf and my favorite Pokemon trainer as a pink fluffy idol is basically a dream come true!! It was meant to be.
