Construction Details:

Dress:
The base dress is made of a dark pink satin. It is lined with a baby pink satin (again, it was stuff I had on hand that I was using.) The outer layer is a hot pink sparkle organza that has gathering in the center front and back. The inside has a foundation made with satin, interfacing and boning to keep it’s structure. The purple boa I had to custom order in from a local theatrical shop. I wanted a royal purple boas rather than a light purple. I liked the contrast better. It was hand stitched onto the dress. The star is a piece of Craft foam with gold glitter. It has a brooch closure on the back and is removable from the dress.

Tights:
The tights were purchased from Forever 21. They are a basic pair of purple tights.

Shoes:
The shoes I custom painted and glittered to match my classic Jem. I have 2 pairs of pink pumps, light and dark; these are the dark pair.

Makeup:
The makeup was done by my sister, who is a professional makeup artist. We decided to do the really light pink look from the cartoon rather than box art with dark pink. I really like the light pink look because it looks more neutral and not so bright. Wearing that much pink eye makeup can be disastrous….but this lighter pink looks really simple and pretty.

Wig:
It’s the same wig I use for all my Jem costumes. It’s an Epic Cosplay Nyx in Pink Vanilla fusion. I custom layered it and added some extra wefts in for volume.

Personal Thoughts:

After watching the complete series of Jem I was inspired to make some of her fashions that I liked. I ended up using most mainly spare fabrics I had left over from previous costumes so it wasn’t a financial burden to make any of the extra costumes. I have a few of her stage outfits I really liked and StarBright was one of them. I already had the wig, so it was an easy costume to whip up. This also came in handy for Jemcon so I could switch out into several of her stage costumes.
