Dress:
I started off with a light pink china silk as a foundation dress. It has princess seams so it shapes to my form. The layer over top is a pink taffeta I found on sale for $6. I hand pleated this on both and the front and back. There is an invisible zipper on the side seam. The white ruffle was also hand pleated with white taffeta I got for $4 (I was quite lucky with sales!) The upper portion of the dress has a foundation made of satin, interfacing and boning for structure. Maintenance for this dress is a bit brutal. I usually have to press it out so the pleats stay in place and to avoid any crinkles in the fabric. Other than that, this is one of my favorite Jem dresses!
Makeup:
The makeup was done by my sister, who is a professional makeup artist. We decided to do the really light pink look from the cartoon rather than box art with dark pink. I really like the light pink look because it looks more neutral and not so bright. Wearing that much pink eye makeup can be disastrous….but this lighter pink looks really simple and pretty.

Wig:
It’s still the same wig. Epic Cosplay’s Nyx in Pink Vanilla fusion. I cut the layers into it and added extra volume with additional wefts. I love this wig!
Personal Thoughts:
I really love the intense 80’s fashions that Jem and the Holograms wear throughout the series. The dress for Broadway magic is on of those rare fashions that could still be used as a prom gown even in today’s standards of fashion. I really love the look of the pink pleats the white ruffle. I have made several of Jem’s fashions now, and this one was one of the trickier ones to put together.
