About this Costume
Construction Details:
HEADDRESS: The headdress is made out of wonderflex, paper mache, fake flowers, model magic, ribbons, and chiffon. In the future I think I'd like to make it fuller towards the back for the next con, because I ended up buying the end of the bolt, and they didn't know when they'd restock haha!

MAIN COSTUME: (Pattern: Butterick 6698)

I used the same commercial pattern as I did for my Shiroyasha cosplay last year, so this was a VERY easy costume to make! The Lavender kimono is made of David Tutera's Matte Charmeuse in Mauve (using the wrong side), and was pretty expensive ($16.99/yd!) But as soon as I saw and felt it, I knew I wanted to use it for Houzukigami hehe. Because it was so thin and slightly sheer, I wanted to make the white kimono part out of a thicker fabric, so I used a bottomweight twill. The dark purple sash and bow are also David Tutera's Matte Charmeuse in Violet (using the right side).

SOCKS: Tabi socks purchased from Sockdreams, my go-to for my sock needs. :P

GETA: Purchased at Marukai!

BOOK OF FRIENDS: Made from tagboard, craft foam, sketchbook paper, and piping (for the red bow)! After seeing my many failed (and off-center) attempts at writing the calligraphy on the front, My friend Bubydub whipped up the most beautiful writing for me! hehe.
Personal Thoughts:
Natsume Yuujinchou is my favorite series of all time, and this is actually a dream cosplay of mine, so I'm really happy that I get to share these photos! hehe. This particular version of the main character, Natsume Takashi, is when he's dressed up as the god Houzukigami for the Moon-Splitting Festival.
