About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
I didn't use any commercial patterns for this, but it was easy to draw out or piece together from patterns I'd already made. The top is a knit which I double layered to be opaque (except for the sleeves). The blue is called Rodeo from JoAnns, and the red on the bow is poly poplin. I made the stripes by taking the ribbon and first setting it down with Heat 'n Bond light and then topstitching it down on either side. The collar is just tacked on so that it easily stretches over my head, and the front bow comes off with snaps. The front and back bow is made from SparklePipsi's awesome sailor bow pattern (although I sized it down for the chest bow). The wig is an Inigo in midnight blue which I styled myself using rollers and hairspray and use for my other Mercury versions.
- Personal Thoughts:
- I made this to have a comfy version of Ami to wear for Anime Expo 2014. It's a great after hours costume!
