About this Costume
Construction Details:
My husband's name is Joel, and he bears a bit of resemblance to the character, so he decided to cosplay him. The game is phenomenal, and I wanted to join him - but I definitely can't pass for a child, and I didn't feel as if I could pull off Tess. I figured it had been a while since I'd made something creepy, so I set off to try to make a Clicker. I had NO idea what I had gotten myself into! I'd never made any kind of cast of myself with plaster, so I had my husband wrap my face in rigid wrap to get something I could custom form to my face. After this step, I built the base of the mask with mesh wire, and Crayola Model Magic. On top of that, I used paper clay, as it's a bit more durable. On top of that, I used a thin coat of resin, to make sure the mask wouldn't break. It made it a bit heavier, but I don't at all regret my decision.rnrnThe details were painted on using acrylic paints, liquid latex, and cotton balls. On top of that, I added tracts of hair beneath the "petals" to further create the illusion of the entire growth being a part of my face. The teeth are fake nails that were chipped and painted.rnrnThe clothing was purchased from second hand stores, tattered and dirtier using shoe polish and acrylic paint. The bare foot effect was created by hand sewing tulle fabric to shoe insoles. The rest of the makeup is a mix of custom made latex strips, cotton balls, cheesecloth, acrylic paint, spirit gum, and Kryolan Aqua Color makeup. The first time I wore the costume, the makeup took 4 hours, and the last time I wore it, I was able to get it down to 3. This is one of my favorite costumes I've ever made :)
Personal Thoughts:
I love this game, and Clickers give me the heebie-jeebies.
