About this Costume
Construction Details:
Dress: Design made from scratch - just traced one of my favorite tanktops and added a square-hemmed circle skirt. Sewn from stretchy yellow dancewear material, and made double thick to avoid having it be see-through.

Dress Poufs - Made from black tulle. The front poufs are two tiers, the back poufs are three. I cut long, thin strips of the tulle, sewed the ends together, and then hand gathered them into a tight circle. Machine stitched onto the dress.

Long Petticoat - made with 2 yards of sheer black material at first, but it wasn't floofy enough! So I went and bought 3 more yards. So much floof. Given a lettuce edge with my trusty serger. I keep it poofed out with a short black petticoat underneath, bought off of eBay.

Shoes - eBay find. Technically, when she appears with the long petticoat, she's barefoot, but I have this thing against being barefoot at cons. She does have black heels the second time she appears in human form. Though I have seen an interesting tutorial about making 'invisible' shoes out of clear gel insoles and mesh fabric...

Wig - Base wig bought off of eBay. Hairbuns made by hand from 2" styrofoam balls. First I cut off the bottom third of the balls, then glued black stretch fabric down over them. I carved a hole in the bottom, and glued a plug of loose black wig hair in. With the help of some clear silicone caulk, I wrapped the hair around the styrofoam base and glued a circle of black felt over the bottom to keep the hair in place. I sewed black barretes to the felt so I could clip them into the wig with ease.

Jewelry - The moons were all made of Fimo, spraypainted gold, and lacquered for high shine. The moon pendant is double sided, because it tends to spin around and show the backside a lot. The gold chain and beads were purchased at a local beading shop, and I spent a good day chopping the chain apart and inserting the beads between the links on metal pins. The bindi-moon stays on with spirit gum, and left a moon-shaped mark on my forehead the whole next day. The yellow ribbon around the neck is made in my usual cheating way - I got tired of trying to tie a perfect bow, so I hot-glued ribbon together to make a flawless bow. It closes around my neck with a hidden snap.

Makeup - I keep a natural look, with a little neutral eyeshadow to help contour my eyelids. I use pink gloss or a tinted lipbalm for that super-girly fresh look. I color my eyebrows in with black mascara.
Personal Thoughts:
The only SM character I've ever considered cosplaying, apart from Saturn. The design is so beautiful!
