About this Costume

The costume took about four days continuously in total since it was done in a bout of marathon sewing. Two of these days consisted of me bringing my pieces to work to set all of the pearls and rhinestones, as well as sew some of the trims. Some hotel sewing was required, and my machine had a goober at one point, but conveniently there was a repair shop like two blocks away.
Costume was made with a modified Green Pepper ice skating pattern for the bodice, entirely serged with a sewn in collar made of blue casa satin. The sleeves are also satin, and fitted with rolled sleeves made of magenta satin and filling. Process was also repeated for the gloves.
The skirt was made of three layers of circle skirts, one of which was macguyvered because the store I purchased from didn't have much left of the magenta I really wanted, so I made due with it. Each layer was gathered and then basted together, then serged into the whole bodice. Then trims were added along the bottom of each layer for sparkle. The entire costume can easily be slipped on, and it's form-fitted.
Headpiece jewels were made by individually setting the little flat pearls into two large gem pieces I had, and then adding silver rings on top for dimension, and clips in the back. Feather clips were also made by setting in small white and clear pearls, then gluing baby feathers. The heart piece was made using the plastic heart-shaped jewlery box, then setting in all of the pearls and the gem heart. The wings are craft foam, and then set into the fuku.
Shoes were store bought, then added with thick glittery trim and glitter craft foam for the moons. The wings were made by my good friend, Luna Lovely, who gave them to me as a gift for Belldandy, and were repurposed. - Personal Thoughts:
- This was one of my top five dream cosplays since forever.
I had it planned around 2013 that I wanted to start working on it, and then it kept getting delayed since I was dancing around to commit to making it. Then after Fanime 2014 when I hadn't sewn a big project in a while, I decided to make it for AX, as well as to participate in the Sailormoon love fest for the new series.
Eternal and Super are tied for my favorite forms. I decided to make the costume halfway between the new artwork for Eternal released in the revamped work, which had more glittery trims and designs, and the SeraMyu designs since I have loved the musicals for more than a decade.
I sincerely love this cosplay because it's not only comfortable (sans the wings), but it's a character and design I feel brings out my deepest and derpiest love for being a moon princess.

- Wig Review
- Wig is really great for Usagi. I've gone through a few wigs for her, and since my hair is very dark and long, I have a hard time wearing high back styled wigs for her. The wig is a full-size and in separate pieces, so it eliminates the issue of having to fit the weight of the wig over the high neck and then adjust.
