Construction Details:

This costume was super easy. The dress I patterned myself and was made from a spandex fabric for extra comfort. The jacket I made by modifying Tina Doan's SNK jacket pattern. It's made and lined out of cotton sateen, using satin ribbon as trim. Next time I wear her, I may stuff the sleeves so they're more puffy. Leggings are also made from spandex. I thought they turned out really well for my first time making them. The sword, I originally wanted to make out of PVC sheets or tubes or something more..legit? But I got a new job and it severely cut into my sewing time, so I almost had to scrap the sword all together. Luckily, I was at Michaels picking up some last minute things the day before I left for Boston. I saw these orange bubble wand tubes and was struck with a moment of sudden brilliance. I bought three of them and a string of battery powered floral LED lights. My friend put it together for me, but I explained to him how I wanted it done. The three bubble wands were hot glued together, and the lights were strung into the tube. The battery pack was hidden up my sleeve for pictures~

Personal Thoughts:

My favorite space babe~ Every year for Anime Boston, I do a throwback costume. Last year was Cardcaptor Sakura, and the year before was Ranma 1/2. This year, it was Tenchi Muyo's turn and luckily, it happened to fit the con's sci-fi Mecha vs. Kaiju theme~ I LOVE cosplaying as her. The response for her is awesome and it makes me so happy whenever people recognize her, considering she's from an older series~
