About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
Coat pattern was altered from a simple, longer coat pattern (I honestly can't remember at this point), pants were a basic elastic waistband type deal, and the boots are actually pleather bootcovers over some old loafers adhered to the shoes with e6000. Hat was created by using some cardstock to make a pattern, and then I just increased the size and made it a pattern in illustrator. Feathers and domed hat were obviously not mine. Gloves are a stretch knit, patterned freehand. Last but not least, coat is actually three layers: outer gabardine shell, inner canvas, and lining that's a sandy twill color. Oh! And buttons are detailed with Ul'dah iconography(the city the guild is in) as well as made out of sculpey, as are the other "tools" located on the outfit. We won't talk about the dress shirt. That's getting remade. That's a terrible shirt. XD
- Personal Thoughts:
- I started playing this game waaaaaaay before it became what it is now, and once I entered the new shiny version, and discovered the weaver's guild I knew I had but one mission: OBTAIN THAT OUTFIT. I did so in game, and outside of it as well. I've been cosplaying since 2001 and it felt like it'd be a crime if I *didn't* try to make it.This is version 1.0, I've got a new and improved version on its way, I just need to find the time.(this one's got some 'staying together' problems solved with saftey pins now).Even though it's a pain in the rear to put it on (and that coat doesn't come off till end of day, and sometimes that makes vending a little difficult), I still absolutely love strutting around in this thing. :)
Wig Details
- How was the wig colored?
- FW Ink
- Styling Notes
- After adding the smalls watch of color to the hair as a highlight, it only needed to be trimmed up in the back, and slightly on the front, then spiked out in a haphazard manner.
- Wig Review
- Took the dye really well! Always a dream to style.
