This probably would've been a simple cosplay (all sewing, no armor/props really) except for the fact I had to figure out how to make the overdress without any side seams. It was a process of trial and error, but I finally got it to hang the way I wanted (more or less). Figuring out the collar was also quite a process, as the dress is open in the back. There’s a blue front part of a shirt attached to the inside of the overskirt thing as well. The dress is secured in front by a button, a hook/eye, and a strip of velcro (using all types of materials, haha~)
Skirt is a half circle skirt. I initially sewed on ruffles around the bottom but it messed up the way the skirt hanged, so I ended up using only the bottom part of the ruffles as the lace (if that makes sense).
Gloves/sleeves are a stretchy knit material with gold ribbon that goes around the middle finger.
Cloak and veil are made of organza (which, I have discovered, is a pain to work with). Sewing around the edges to keep it from fraying looked really bad, so instead I ended up singeing the edges with my hair straightener WHICH I DO NOT RECOMMEND, but it was the only device I had available at the time. Cloak attaches with hook and eye in front of the overdress and is not attached to the overdress. The veil is sewn into the wig on top due to time constrains~will potentially make it detachable in the future. I will say that the veil hinders my vision more than I thought it would, so I may need to figure out a fix for that.
The wig…is a cheap one off of Amazon (Cool2Day, I think? I’m probably going to avoid buying wigs from Amazon from now on) and while the fibers were really nice it was WAYYYY too thin. So, I learned how to weft wigs! =D Since it was a long wig, I ended up cutting most of it short and turning the ends into wefts. Then I sewed them onto the wig to make it thicker~crisis avoided!
Contacts are i.Fairy Casper Violet~
Purple queen chess piece was 3D printed. It was my first time using a 3D printer, so I might make a better one at some point in the future.
