About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
There are now four different "versions" of this costume. They all had a black stretch satin base, with different materials making up the purple parts of the costume.
The boots are basically boot covers attached permanently to sandal bottoms. The purple pieces and mask were craft foam (2013), then painted wonderflex (2014), and then were made out of dyed and carved leather for 2015 onward. The weapons were originally an amalgamation of foam swords, wooden rings, paperclay and a lot of painting. I retired the costume in 2015, but I'll be updating it again in 2017, keeping the leather parts but making the boots more comfortable and durable, and making the costume overall easier to get into and out of. I may or may not remake the weapons as well. - Personal Thoughts:
- This costume has become a personal challenge for me each year. How can I improve on it for the next year/convention? First it was taking the plunge to work with Wonderflex for the first time in eight years, and to make (somewhat) durable props for the first time. Then I delved into the unknown world of working with carving and dyeing leather. It's an awesome learning experience, to be honest. :)<br />

- I carry a little brush with me at all times in this cosplay, so if I have some downtime at a photoshoot I can detangle the bottom. I'm not kidding.
- Wig Review

Amazing wig but, predictably after over a year of wear it became tangled and unwearable, and the color was discontinued when I tried to re-order. :
My second wig was the same brand and style, but in pale lilac instead, which isn't quite as accurate but good enough,
and you can't tell in pictures.(<br />
