About this Costume
Construction Details:
I choose to change the neckline on this dress to a sweetheart because I thought it would be more romantic for Luna. I used a yellow casa glitter satin for the dress, which is lined (also in satin since I wanted the same weight and to make the dress more opaque, that an I couldn't find a nice lining I liked), and has metal boning in it to give the best shape a structure. Sadly in the time I made this I lost enough weight to make the dress not fit a snuggly as I did. Oh well, it was made with alterations in mind! I then added crystals to the petals of the dress (which I need to add more).
rn
rnThe black part is a separate skirt with tulle, casa satin and glitter organza layers. The organza and the satin are circle skirts with horse hair sewn into the hem. Again I want to add more crystals because you can't really see any in these photos. Also need more stars. The ones you do see are made of heat transfer vinyl.
rn
rnThe necklace and moon accessories are casted by me. The moon necklace I took extra liberties and added filigree to the moon and crystals. The chains have crystals and pearls in them.
rn
rnShoes are stand ins until I can add the crystals to the ones I did buy! haha.
Personal Thoughts:
Luna has one of the prettiest dress designs of the series, yet is pretty simple. So I wanted to make his my over the top glitter bling-tastic sparkle Moon Kitty project. That and I have never made a big poofy skirt/dress thing. There are still more crystals I want to add to this before I wear it again though.
