About this Costume

This was a lot of fun to make. I chose a princess satin poly as the main fabric for the top and bottoms.rnThe choice of polyester for the main fabric was to avoid wrinkles and seal the scallops on the neck and the ascot. They are made by stitch selection on my sewing machine, cut out, and then fused down with heat (a lighter).rnThe underside of the top of the 'skirt' part is a lightweight cotton, I used that to make sure I could get a very strong bond with the two layers of heavy-duty interfacing without melting the fabric. I'm also very happy I made the choice to use two layers of interfacing and not just one.rnAll the seams are overlocked together or the ends are just edged clean.rnI chose a separating zipper for easy in and out of the costume (I would have liked an invisible zipper, but because of time I was no able to order a separating invisible zipper).rnThere are two holes in the back on the princess seams that allow for me to thread the wings through the back of the outfit.rnThe bottoms are half pants, half circle shirt, magically sewing together to make poof! The leg holes and waist band are all pull ties, no elastic.rnTo get the poof, I just stuffed a petticoat in there.rnrnThe wigs are made of craft foam and 16 gauge steal wire.rnrnThe crown is made of worbla and wooden beads.rnrnShoes were originally black, lots of paint and frustration later they are yellow. The wing clips are removablernrnThe shoe and ascot clips were made by making positives in clay, then the mold negatives, then using some spare smooth-on 300 plastic I turned out a few of those.rnrnTHE WAND! I didn't make it, Cerulean Draco made that out of resin, wood, and love.rnrn
- Personal Thoughts:
