About this Costume
- Construction Details:

The only things I did not make myself were the black turtleneck, black leggings, wig, and shoes. I did all the patterning by myself except for the breastplate. A friend seran wrapped my chest, added masking tape over it, and drew the breast plate design on there (which then I traced it onto the craft foam, etc). All the armor was made out of craft foam and covered in 5 layers of Mod Podge on each side of the armor. Overall, I had probably around 50ish individual pieces before I started gluing them together. The silver armor pieces have 2 different color paint: a dark grey satin acrylic paint and then a silver layer added over. I only used 1 layer of the silver paint on each side of the pieces of armor so the dark grey could still show through, but still give that metallic look I needed for armor. I did the same thing for the gold sections. I used a dark yellow satin acrylic paint, then painted gold over it. I did have to use at least 1 more layer of gold over the dark yellow because otherwise the color looked a little gross. The orange waist armor was just a burnt orange satin acrylic paint. The cape and orange undershirt are made out of casa satin. To secure the armor onto my body, I used velcro and elastic, depending on the piece of armor.
- Personal Thoughts:
- hahahaha. Hah. I spent like 6 months on this only to have it fall apart at the con. Lesson learned: craft foam isn't exactly the best method for waist armor :v Also my leg armor was not cooperating with me at the con so I had to go without it. I am planning to remake a lot of the armor pieces using some worbla. This was my first attempt at a full armor cosplay.
